Anyone between the ages of 5-12 years old are allowed to participate.
During track season, we have one practice a week (Tuesdays) and one meet a week (Thursdays). Our spring track and field season is 5-6 weeks long.
The only gear you need is a pair of tennis shoes and a water bottle. The program fee covers the cost of an awesome STORM track shirt to wear to meets.
We start practice by checking in with our program director, Cami, for any announcements. Next, our coaches divide the kids into groups to rotate through instruction and practice on different running and field events. Most practices end by practicing our relays. Practices are on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 pm.
We are so fortunate to receive invites from many nearby youth track programs to attend track meets. In the past, we have traveled to Athena, Hermiston, and Pendleton, as well as hosted our own meets at the Dave Klicker Track on the Walla Walla High School campus.
All of our track meets are optional. Come if you can (they are REALLY fun), but we totally understand if it doesn't work for your family.
Each track meet has a different list of available events. These typically include 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, 4x100m relay, long jump, javelin, and shot put. Athletes can choose up to four events to enter at each meet.
Registration fees are vital to providing on-going access to youth track in Walla Walla. Fees are calculated to limit the financial burden on families to participate to the best of our abilities. The bulk of funds pay for the insurance, USATF membership, t-shirts, and various administrative costs that make all of this possible. We are unable to refund the registration fee. Thank you for understanding in advance.
